SCRIPTURE: Then He went in and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it, saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ (Luke 19:45-46)
THE ENTREPRENEUR’S REFLECTION
A Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is the critical metric that defines success for your business. Most people track “vanity metrics” (followers, website visits, likes) that feel good but don’t pay the rent. You must track the North Star Metric—the one number that, if it increases, guarantees your business is serving value. If you sell courses, the North Star is Course Completion Rate, not Course Sales. If people complete the course, they get results, they send referrals, and they buy the next product. Everything else is a den of thieves, stealing your focus. Define the one true metric of value creation and drive out everything that distracts from it.
PRAYER / CONFESSION
Lord, purify my focus. I pray for the insight to define the true North Star Metric of my business—the one number that proves I am generating authentic value. Help me to drive out the thieves of vanity and distraction from my operations and focus only on the metrics that lead to real, sustainable growth. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
THE EXECUTION PROTOCOL
Define the North Star: Write down the single most important, non- financial metric for your business (e.g., Customer Success Stories, Repeat Purchase Rate, Average Delivery Time).
Measure It: Determine how you will track this metric daily (e.g., a simple spreadsheet column).
Ignore the Rest: For the next 48 hours, ignore all other vanity metrics. Focus only on increasing the North Star Metric.
