SCRIPTURE: The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. (Proverbs 11:3)
THE ENTREPRENEUR’S REFLECTION
Just as you manage money owed to you (A/R), you must manage money you owe (A/P). Accounts Payable management is critical for optimizing your outflow and maintaining strong vendor relationships. Pay your bills, but pay them strategically. Integrity requires paying on time, but shrewdness suggests paying at the last possible minute without incurring penalty. This allows your cash to remain in your account, working for you for as long as possible. If a vendor offers 30-day terms, pay on day 30, not day 1. However, if a vendor offers an early-payment discount, use strategic debt (from Mar 3) to seize that discount. This balancing act requires both integrity and shrewdness.
PRAYER / CONFESSION
Lord, guide me with upright integrity in my financial dealings. I pray for the shrewdness to manage my outflow, optimizing cash utilization without sacrificing my reputation. Help me to honor my vendors while maximizing the working capital available to my enterprise. I commit to being a reliable but strategic payer. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
THE EXECUTION PROTOCOL
A/P Audit: List all current bills. Mark the Due Date and the Early Payment Discount Date (if applicable).
Optimize the Schedule: Reschedule any automatic payments to happen on the last day of the term, unless an early-payment discount is available.
Negotiate Terms: Contact one key vendor today and ask for a small extension on payment terms (e.g., from 15 days to 30 days) in exchange for being a long-term, reliable client.
