SCRIPTURE: Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out. (Proverbs 20:5)
THE ENTREPRENEUR’S REFLECTION
Lack of capital means you cannot afford costly marketing mistakes. You must know your customer’s pain better than they know it themselves. Counsel—true pain points and desires—is like deep water, and a person of understanding (the smart entrepreneur) draws it out through strategic questioning. Today’s task is a 4-hour, zero-cost market research blitz. Schedule 4 fifteen-minute calls with potential ideal clients. Your sole goal is not to sell, but to listen. Ask open-ended questions like, “What did you try that failed?” or “What is the biggest frustration keeping you up at night?” Listen for the exact language they use. This raw data guides your product development and future marketing copy.
PRAYER / CONFESSION
Lord, give me the gift of deep listening and understanding. I pray for the humility to seek counsel directly from the market, drawing out the deep water of my customer’s pain points. Help me to structure my questions wisely so that I gain the understanding needed to build solutions that perfectly match their needs. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
THE EXECUTION PROTOCOL
Define the Ideal Target: Name 4 people in your network who represent your absolute ideal client.
The Listener Request: Send a brief email to each, saying you are doing research and asking for 15 minutes of their advice, promising not to sell anything.
The Key Question: During the calls, ensure you ask, “If you had a magic wand and could solve one problem instantly, what would it be?”
